I usually prefer series, as you get that extra security that your new book boyfriend is still around even after you've finished, but don't worry, DYHY does not disappoint!

Carter and Evie have the perfect meet-cute and despite being in the same highly competitive industry of Hollywood agents, their chemistry is off the charts from the start. With the complications of friends, family and an age difference all manages to go well until their respective companies merge and they find themselves in direct competition with each other to keep their job. What happens next is pure genius and hilarity all wrapped up together.

This story is a fresh, modern take on the enemies to lovers arc, and it's strikingly relevant. Like always, Christina Lauren's signature witty banter and ridiculously funny yet real situations complement the sexual tension and budding relationship between Carter and Evie beautifully. The characters are immensely likable and admirable, immersing you immediately in their world. This is my favourite book of , a must read! You all know I can’t resist a good office romance, and this one definitely did not disappoint!

I’ve been meaning to pick up a Christina Lauren book for a while now and I can officially say I’m a fan. It was hilariously written, and definitely reminded me a bit of The Hating Game a bit, except Carter and Evie actually liked each other to begin with before they began sabotaging each other.

Carter and Evie are both talent agents living the Hollywood dream and they are set up by their friends at a costume party. They go on one hot date before their companies merge and they become coworkers.

The only problem is that there is only room for one of them in the company and they’re both super competitive. It doesn’t help that their boss is a sexist prick who is basically cheering Carter on from the get-go. Either way, neither of them are willing to let their feelings for each other get in the way of their careers. It becomes an all-out war filled with pranks and sabotage and oh, boy does it get personal! They both question how far they are willing to go in order to be the last one standing.

Carter and Evie become this sexually frustrated mess as they start to avoid their feelings and become emotionally detached from each other. Let me tell you, this romance becomes a hot mess! There also might be some criminal activity involved as well. I basically fell in love at first Harry Potter reference if we’re being honest. Basically any book that cleverly slides a HP reference in is already in my good books. I totally connected with Evie because she is constantly spouting movie facts and totally has no shame about her epic nerdiness.

Carter on the other hand could charm the pants off anyone within ten seconds of meeting them. The only thing he wasn’t counting on was having to compete with the girl he likes. This book definitely dealt a lot with how women are viewed in the workplace and I completely respect Evie’s character for holding her head high. She is such a powerful female protagonist who is just trying to find success in a dog-eat-dog industry.

There was so much stacked against Carter and Evie, but they managed to pull through at the end. There were some fleeting moments of romance and I love that this one was definitely a slow-burn.

Carter and Evie didn’t give in to their desire right away and I can respect that because I loved all the drama and antics! There were definitely a lot of laugh-out-loud moments and I loved how it ended. But once I was, I really enjoyed it. The sexism and inequality in the workplace are so perfectly analyzed in this book. And what's more, I loved when our hero, Carter, was finally noticing it and taking steps to speak out against it.

While this is a workplace romance, I wasn't expecting so much shop talk. I appreciated the work behind all the detail of the profession, but at times, it seemed a little draining and tedious to read about.

I have very mixed feelings about this one. I liked Carter. I liked Evie. I LOATHED their boss and the toxic work environment he created. Because I was so uncomfortable in that environment, I never really got deeply into the book.

And the childish pranks the pair played on one another? I thought Carter’s were fun and mostly harmless, but Evie’s showed such a complete lack of respect, especially for the clients they’re supposed to be representing, that I stopped even liking her during this period in the book. I read a lot, so for a book to stand out and stay with me, well, IMO that's due to outstanding writing.

I loved the characters, the banter and the rivalry was hilarious. I usually find the comedy in books to be dry or immature. NOT with this book, it was smart and sexy. Loved the whole cast of characters and while the storyline was a bit predictable, enjoyed that too. Yes I know the whole book was a build up but I felt the declaration still was very swift! this book was so entertaining!

It made me laugh, it curled my toes and I was so invested in how the story would end! It was a great read. When I start a book I need to finish it even when I'm not enjoying it, these one I'm having lots of trouble picking it up to read. I'm pretty far in and it's boring to much work and family talk.. I was so hoping I would love it. One person found this helpful. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. I was so looking forward to reading this book. I had it on pre order for months.

I'm a massive fan of Christina Lauren but this book didn't seem to have their feel on it. It was like reading another authors book. I felt it was confusing in the beginning keeping up with all the characters that were introduced as they were all brought in about the same time. The story didn't feel strong to carry through. It was very putdownable. I wanted to continue on just to see if I got to see a glimmer of Christina Lauren but was left feeling really disappointed.

All their previous books have been brilliant and I even re read some and Also bought the audio. This book is easily forgettable. I really hope their next project goes back to their sassy genius writing making us swoon and laugh at the same time.

Content warnings: sexism, sexual harassment So on the day, I read Roomies I also read Dating You, Hating You. I know, classic Kirsty. I'm in the middle of a slump and I read 2 books in one day then go back to not reading anything. I had to take the day off work because I couldn't sleep at all, which isn't good when you work in accounts.

Immediately after finishing these 2 books in the same day I went back to being in a slump. Carter and Evie start dating after their friends set them up at a Halloween party as the only single people they know. They both work for entertainment agencies but somehow try to make it work. That is until their companies have a merger making them in competition for the same jobs.

It all goes a bit tits up for their romance. I love office romances so this one was super up my street. I watch a fair few office romance Kdramas and I love reading them whenever it's in a book. I think what I really enjoyed with this book was that it wasn't your standard hate to love or forbidden romance, this was love to hate to love which was a whole different ball game.

You know what the couple is like as a couple then they're not anymore and there's just so much tension. I love it. For me though, the best part of this book is the constant discussion of how women are treated in the workplace. Whether it be the leading lady talking about it to her friends or the main man becoming increasingly more aware of how the world works for women.

It was so good to read in a romance. This is my third Christina Lauren novel and I really want to read everything else because this cemented how much I enjoy their writing and their characters. There's just something about their style of writing that really pulls you in.

Like me being in a huge slump but still managing to read 2 of their books in one day. Report abuse. Absolutely love Christina Lauren and was so excited for this to be released, but I felt so disappointed by this book. There are flashes of the humour and the brilliant relationships from their other books, and I enjoyed the acknowledgement of the casual and not so casual sexism in their business, but to me it felt like endless pages of filler with very few moments of interest.

In addition the ending was so glaringly signposted from halfway through I found myself irritated by the characters inability to pick up on it.

Still a huge fan of CL, just hoping for more from "Roomies". The book is perfect for those who wants to read contemporary, romance books. The book was first published in June 6th and the latest edition of the book was published in June 6th which eliminates all the known issues and printing errors. by Christina Lauren. by John Townsend.
